Seating Solution FAQ

Below is a list of common questions we have heard from customers as they look for and shop for seating  solutions for their vans.

  • Q - Are your Seating Solutions FMVSS certified?

    a. - Yes, all our seating solutions have be extensively tested to ensure they meet and exceed FMVSS 207/210 safety requirements. See collage of Pull Test Pictures at the bottom of this page.

  • Q - What is FMVSS?

    a. FMVSS = Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards are a collection of laws write by NHTSA and passed by Congress to increase the safety of motor vehicles by preventing and reducing vehicle crashes. Learn more here.

  • Q - Do you Sell Driver & Front Passenger Seats?

    We do not offer front seating replacements because doing so would eliminate the factory AIRBAG(S) that are integrated into the seat. 

    JMG Systems is a safety-focused engineering company; we only want to enhance your safety, not decrease it.  


  • Q - Do your seats lay flat?

    a. - No, our seats can recline back  40 degrees from an upright positio. They DO NOT LAY FLAT or turn into a bed. 

  • Q - Does the seat back fold forward to a flat surface?

    a. - No, our seat backs DO NOT FOLD FORWARD. 

  • Q - Are your seats compatible with a car seats?

    a. - Yes, all seats come standard with CRS, Child Restraint System, anchor points between the seat/back cushion to secure a car seat or booster seat. Our Seating Solutions for Sprinter & Transit vans with OEM seating tracks also have an integrated rear anchor point for forward facing car seats.

  • Q - What type of seat belt do your seats have?

    a. -  All our passenger seats have 3-Point seat belts in compliance with FMVSS 207/210. 

  • Q - Can I just add a lap belt to bench seat and be ok?

    a. - Vehicles that weigh less than 10,000 pounds must have 3-Point Seat Belts in all forward facing seating positions and each seat passenger seat must comply with FMVSS 207/210 safety requirements.

  • Q- How can I add safe passenger seats in my cargo van?

    a. - Currently we have two fully tested and certified Cargo Van Seating Solutions that can be installed in a Sprinter, Transit, and ProMasters. 

  • Q - I have a Sprinter Passenger/Crew Van do you have reclining seats that can use the OEM mounting tracks?

    a. - Yes, If you have a Sprinter van with factory/OEM mounting tracks in the floor we have a full line of seating options that will drop in and bolt on to your OEM floor tracks. See Sprinter Seating Solutions. From a single 18" wide seat to our Dual Super Plush Captain Chairs. 

  • Q - I have a Sprinter Passenger/Crew Van can I add two individual seats?

    a. - The Sprinter Passenger/Crew vans only have three sets of floor tracks per row and we need as least two tracks per individual seat for them to be stand alone seats. Therefore you can install a single stand alone seat per row or you can choose our dual captain chair set up with a center console in the middle that uses all three floor tracks.

  • Q - I have a Transit Crew Van do you have narrower bench that fits the OEM mounting tracks?

    a. - Yes, If you have a Ford Transit Crew van with three OEM seat tracks in the 2nd row we have a few options for the Crew Van. 

    1) Single seat configuration that can accomindate any of our seats from the 18" to the 22" captain chair.  

    2) Double bench seat that can fit either 2x 18" seats or 2x 20" seats. 

  • Q - I have my own seat(s) or bench seat. Will you install themfor me?

    a. - No. We only install seating solutions we have designed and tested to insure they meet FMVSS safety standards. 

  • Q - Do you Sell OEM Seat Brackets/Rails for Sprinters or Transits?

    No, we only sell seats that bolt-on to the OEM seat brackets/rails in Passenger or Crew Vans.
